6 For the lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
— Proverbs 2:6-7

It is overwhelming to think about how much God loves us and cares about our lives. Did you know that God desires to give us wisdom? It is His heart for us to live with knowledge and understanding of His ways. God wants us to live in victory and under His protection.

If the Lord desires to give us wisdom, knowledge and understanding, if He wants us to be victorious and if He promises to be our shield, why then do we sometimes live in defeat? How can we live as Christ desires? Solomon wisely (pun intended) sandwiched verses 6 and 7 between the HOW and the WHY.

My child, listen to what I say,
and treasure my commands.
2 Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.
3 Cry out for insight,
and ask for understanding.
4 Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures.
5 Then you will understand what it means to fear the lord,
and you will gain knowledge of God.
— Proverbs 2:1-5 (NLT)

How do we access the wisdom, understanding and knowledge that God wants to give us?

By making Him a priority!

We must accept, store up, and turn our ear to what God has to say. If we apply the Word to our hearts and search for God's truths like an adventurer seeking a great treasure. Then, God can reveal Himself to us.

And why?
Because the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of God protects us from sin.

The remainder of chapter 2 describes how understanding will guard you and how wisdom will save you from the ways of the wicked. I love the way the Message describes this - "Good sense will scout ahead for danger, insight will keep an eye out for you. They'll keep you from making wrong turns or following bad directions".

Tired of wandering in a maze of detours and dead ends? Longing to make better, wiser decisions? Wanting a stronger, deeper relationship with Christ? That is God's desire for you too!! He gives wisdom and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Father, I am so grateful for your Word and your great love for me. Help me to listen more carefully and search more diligently for your words and your way. Thank you for offering me your wisdom. Thank you for speaking knowledge and understanding into my life. I pray that today and each day forward I will grow in you and walk in your way.
