What is Volunteering?
Volunteering is moving from spectator to contributor. Volunteering is not just about helping others. What you’ll find out when you volunteer is that serving others is also the best way to grow in your relationship with God.
For instance, let me introduce you to Ray. He’s one of the “fingers” in our church body -- the guy responsible for managing the production elements of our services each weekend. Ray’s got one of those thankless jobs where -- if you do it perfectly – no one notices. But if you mess up, everyone complains…much like a referee or a field goal kicker!
Although Ray’s job is invisible to most people who attend our church – it’s INDISPENSABLE in our larger mission of partnering with Jesus to change the world.
In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul explains how every part of God's Body (the church) has a unique and vital role to play. There are no spiritual "superstars" in Jesus' church; just everyday people like Ray using their one-of-a-kind gifts to contribute to the whole. And when God's people come together to "be the Body" something incredible happens: God's presence becomes visible in our broken world.
