Our Story
A story only God could write
The story of Pinellas Community Church is “A God Story” -- because He alone has been the one to write our story.
The Bible says He is the “author and finisher of our faith” and what an author He has been. His hand has written every page of this story called Pinellas Community Church.
The title of the story of PCC could be called “Generations” because when someone comes to Christ at PCC -- not only is their life changed, but it changes the lives of generations to come.
When Mark and Lori Canfield first arrived 1994, PCC was meeting at the Suncoast Executive Inn on 34th Street South. Pioneered in 1992 by David and Gina Melendez, PCC was founded to reach this community and this generation for Christ. And what we envisioned then pales in comparison to God’s ultimate dream for our church family.
As the church grew beyond 450 attendees, we outgrew our rented facilities and realized we needed a larger place to worship. While multiple options were sought, God worked a miracle on 31st Street when the property we are presently located on was given to PCC for just $10. On Christmas Eve, 1997, we celebrated God’s gift to us and moved onto our new campus to accommodate the rapid growth we were experiencing.
As PCC continued to grow, we quickly outgrew our ability to minister to more children and youth. Portable buildings were added to increase our space. Services were added to accommodate the crowds. And God continued to change lives.
Realizing that more space was needed, we embarked on a giving initiative called "Maximum Impact" to build a new worship facility. On March 19, 2006, we moved into our new 700 seat worship center.
God has been faithful in His Story. Hundreds, if not thousands, of lives have been changed. And their story is a big part of God’s ultimate story here.
But the story isn't complete yet. In fact, we invite you to be a part of the story and journey that happens every day as men, women, families and young people discover and live out God's best for their lives. Who knows, maybe the story of your life is meant to be inter-twined with the next chapter of PCC? Together, we can leave a heritage of faith for the next generation as we impact people with the message of hope -- that God loves them.
